This complex and lively Sauvignon Blanc comes from vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford, and St. Helena within Napa Valley. The variety of growing sites and soils, which are well-drained and gravelly, lends complexity. The small amount of Sémillon in the wine comes from St. Helena, grown in well-drained gravel and alluvial-loam soil.

VINIFICATION

This wine was 95% stainless steel fermented below 60˚F, which made for a slow fermentation. The wine was kept on their lees to impart creamy complexity. The remaining 5% was barrel fermented and aged sur lies before blending.

Pale lemon-green

NOSE

Tropical fruit, Meyer lemon and pineapple, with hints of orange blossom.

PALATE

Nuances of melon and Asian pear which gives way to good acidity and crispness followed by a smooth lingering finish.

Hand-sorted desteemed fruit. Select Bordeaux yeast isolates are used for primary fermentation in tank. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel on fermentation lees. Racking every 4 months during 19 months aging before final blending.

Deep ruby color with intense hue.

NOSE

Layered with dark fruits, blackberry, plum and cassis. Oak is well integrated with hints of vanilla and subtle roasted coffee notes.

PALATE

Lush and firm. The fine integrated tannins display a long finish.

The deep-rooted vines for this Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on the bench sites and foothill vineyards in the Rutherford AVA, located in central Napa Valley. This area is defined by well-drained soils primarily composed of gravel, sand and loam.

The renowned Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard lies within the Rutherford AVA in Napa Valley. This 300-acre parcel is planted with selected Cabernet Sauvignon clones that are tightly-spaced and employ advanced trellising systems, enhancing the exceptional quality of the grapes. In 2009, Beckstoffer Georges III was placed under a land conservation easement that forever prohibits non-agricultural development. This is one of a small handful of vineyards that produces the most sought-after Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley.
